Its been a week since I was here.. feels like a life time. My folks are still here, husband is still home and we have one more week of school holidays. Bliss.

We have had a real at home holiday and its been seriously good. Lots of eating, sleeping in and playing add to that my mother is here so it feels like I have done nothing as she potters around making dinners and doing the washing. Its been wonderful.

So we are seriously all refreshed and ready to go; so here are my few things this first week of July..half way through the year sweets – halfway..

1. This trip (my parents) I have been trying to convince my parents to move here. My mother is in and would be here in a flash my father not so much and has dug his heels in and for the first time ever their is a little friction between him and I. I am by my accounts an only child. I will eventually be the one to look out for them and Darwin is just to far from here. The main reason however I want them closer is I want them here to be present in my boys life more often than just a few times a year. My father is a good man with good morals and values. I want them to know him as I do and have him them teach them things. Things he taught me. He however thinks that can be taught in three trips a year although as good as he is change is not something he embraces in his older age easily never mind its a work in progress…

2. We went and dropped the suits from the wedding back to the suit hire company. We were kept waiting as a man paid for his suit with three different credit cards and some cash. And whilst this is jumping too conclusions if you are having to pay for something by splitting it between four accounts perhaps that’s a sign you shouldn’t have it.

3. I met a true older mother last week, my first older parent encounter. She was 55 years old, her child just three. I put my foot in it several times. Ashamed and embarrassed of my handling of the situation; I assumed the child was her grand daughter rather than her daughter and whilst I’m not judging I couldn’t help but think how tired she must be. I was 33 when I had my last baby and I was tired and still am and I couldn’t imagine how tired and cranky I would be if I was to have a baby at 52. Congratulation’s to her.

4. I had a joke with my mother the other day. It was the first time ever. I was so excited that I pulled off my joke rather than her getting offended that I called my husband; as he is the only one normally that can pull off any kind of sarcasm, dig or joke with her. Perhaps my mother and I have turned a corner. Its taken 36 years but I am over the moon about that.

5. Once upon a time a holiday for me was a luxury hotel and somewhere exotic. Now its with my loved ones. Just being with them is my holiday and it doesn’t matter where we are or how expensive the linen on the bed is. How things have changed.

6. My oven is working thank goodness and I am currently baking a Donna Hay chocolate Mud cake.. so easy to make but baking time is and hour and a half..needless to say how beautiful the house smells (let alone how warm it is) on a chilly winters morning..recipe will follow if its any good.

7. Hair stockings..a method to keep away perverts..and everybody else..urg gross.

8. This is kind of love and appreciation I want my boys to have for each other..this little video whilst four minutes long will make your Monday morning.

9. Its 4 degrees in my kitchen and if my husband didn’t find them so unattractive I would be wearing a onsie right about now..

10. I love the ankle boot but have never really known how to wear them..here is a little slide show to show you how in case you like me are just finding their style.

Well that’s it my sweets. Enjoy your Monday what ever you may be doing..work..school holidays or more work. I’m off to mow the lawn and weed the garden. The joys but tell me..has anyone’s parents moved to them? you always hear of the kids moving closer to the parents; tell me the opposite does happen. And what’s your idea of a holiday and does anyone own a onsie of the adult kind because I seriously want one..it will be husband at work attire.

a fifo wife {fifo life: me: taking a wee break}

dad and boys

My sweets I was laying in bed this morning..having a sleep in because well my parents are here..my husband is home and my kids are on holidays..life is good. Then my B2 came in and sidled up into bed next to me.

Mum he said yeah bubba I replied it feels like ages since I have seen you he said. I looked at him he is the oldest soul I know..really bubba?..yeah he said.

Well I thought the past few weeks have been a little mad but hadn’t really thought about it but with that my sweets I have decided a wee break is in order to be with my boys and my family because as you know that’s important and I know you will get that.

Just for the week because well I love being with you to and that’s important to me.

Enjoy your family sweets.

Talk soon..very soon.

Big love

The weekend is over although it still feels like Sunday which is why its taken me all day to get this post written. The family has been and gone with the exception of my folks and the husband..eeek bliss. It feels so wonderful and lazy.

So the house was bursting with 26 of us. It was amazing. It was a glorious weekend. The bride beautiful, the groom happy and the wedding as it should be bringing families together with goodness and the common bond not of family but of love and it happened in more ways than one.

So after such massive weekend here are the few things running through my head this last week of June. Yes last week my sweets. My kids are already talking Christmas but then I don’t think that ever stops.

1. Its all most tax time let the good times begin. If your not ready, start now it makes it easier down the track. I am the tax time queen because I need every cent the government gives us of our money back. Head here for a fantastic little check list.

2. You make a crap load of money what are you whinging about was said over the weekend…why yes we do make a crap load of money..but I myself don’t make any money so my husbands salary is actually what I would have made had I been working so its two salaries in one but is taxed at 45 cents to the dollar..we also have three children..and a household to run as well as several others so to get some of that 45 cents back that the government takes to run the country..we also don’t qualify for any government subsidies and yes its all our choice..no I’m not complaining..but don’t assume we are rolling in the money and that I don’t look forward to tax time like every other hard working bugger..or that paying $1000 in suit hire wont hurt just a little..

3. Had the best evening with my husband on Saturday night we danced until I could dance no more..he however the ever ready energizer bunny just kept going and going and going.

4. Never buy cheap high heel shoes..ever.

5. Discovered that the slimming underwear really does slim you down a dress size..it also a great mood killer for you know wink wink nudge nudge..it takes as much time as pulling off a wet wet suit. By the time its off your partner is either asleep or is having convulsions of laughter and well the mood has all gone. Sigh.

6. Want some amazing news about HIV and childhood cancer? Then you must watch this video. Even if don’t want to know about child hood cancer because it doesn’t affect you watch it for the fact its good news and good news can never bad especially when a child’s life has been changed. Sometimes a long shot pays off watch it here.

7. North…that’s Kim and Kanya West baby…North West…ahhhh I guess they had the babies best interest at heart..

8. Meet Ripley the great dane just because I like great Danes.

9. They are now placing red wash cloth’s in kindy first aid boxes instead of using white ones so as to stop the children seeing the blood when they hurt themselves..sigh..because seeing and knowing that they bleed is to traumatic..its just like knowing that meat comes from cows..lets just raise a society of ill informed ignorant soft children shall we?

10. KFC 11 herbs and secrets revealed..maybe? Haven’t tried it myself..have you?

Have a great week sweets..as I said my folks are here so I’m in heaven..husband..my folks and the kids on holidays..could life get any better? No I don’t think so.

Tell me what do you have planned for the holidays? Are you going away? Or staying at home?

xx Deb
