What do you miss about Daddy most I asked the boys last night..

“He is funny” said one..”and he plays tickles” said another “and he is different from you. He smells different to you mum. You smell pretty but he smells a good handsome smell”

“Right bubbies. So mummy made a mistake about him being home tomorrow night” I said. “Daddy will be home Friday morning”.

“Thats okay mum. If you want mum just go to his cupboard. He is there.” my middle one said looking at me.

I know bubby I murmured I go there little too often.

a fifo wife {fifo life: bake it: Museli Slice}

image with thanks to ivillage

I made this Museli Slice yesterday but instead of using all that below I used all the left over breakfast cereal that gets left in the bottom of the container because its not enough to fill a bowl. So yesterdays was mix of Just Right, Crunchy Nut, Special K and Nutrigrain rather than the rolled oats, sultanas and dried fruits. I add additional dried apricots and some chopped dates I then followed the recipe accordingly.

Yum however forgot that Crunchy Nut has nuts (duh) and so it no longer school lunch box friendly..

Museli Slice

  • 125g butter
  • ¼ cup (90g) golden syrup
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • ½ cup (80g) sultanas
  • ½ cup (65g) sweetened dried cranberries
  • ½ cup (75g) chopped dried apricots
  • ½ cup (75g) self-raising (self-rising) flour
  • ½ cup (90g) brown sugar

I had six hours of full sleep last night…I feel like I’m on a manic high of normal…This morning I cooked hot breakfast, I found socks when asked and read school readers without complaint.

It may have been the wonders of Benadryl…used medicinally of course…or the 5 kilometre walk/ride we went on. Either way I don’t care…six hours were had… although I’m not naive to think it will happen again because like Britany Spears liking for knickers good sleep tend to be few and far between.

So we are half way through August…the weather is starting to change…and this is the few things running through my head…

  1. Last week a young girl said to me at the gym…I love your blog…I wanted to run…I dont handle compliments in person very well what I should have said was thank you…what I said was gosh well thanks this is a bit embarrassing..but thanks… But gorgeous young girl thank you for telling me it was appreciated…and Im sorry I was an arse about it…perhaps I should do a how to post on accepting a compliment..hmmm
  2. Planning our trip…if you have any must stop spots for the kids from Brisbane through to Melbourne…please let me know…I’m clueless?
  3. I’m closing (sort of) my big house home wares store (online) and reopening her as a pure vintage store. Vintage is my love. It’s what I’m good at and I can’t compete with Big W and all the other fab discount stores. I will let you know and you can grab a bargain. I’m happy and sad all in one.
  4. Tired I snapped at one of my boys whilst collecting his brother from the birthday party…another mother felt the need to point out that I had not even made the request for him to go back to the car ‘poiletly’…I went and sat in my car and cried..And whilst she was right I understand I was in the wrong… it now means I will be dropping my kid off late to kindy so as to avoid her…I’m embarrassed beyond measure.
  5. I watched Pinks interview last night…mother of girls…encourage your girls to look up to her…if we had more role models like her in the world we would be much better off..She is my biggest girl crush…ever.
  6. How this woman got through this news article without laugh I don’t know…listen here
  7. Chris brown says he might be retiring…Im hoping he doesn’t change his mind…here
  8. If I slept often enough I would read how my sleeping positions effected my health however if you don’t fall into that category read more here.
  9. Beyonce official tumbler page… here
  10. The ten prettiest hair styles we can wear according to guys…yes because we all have a stylist and hair dresser at home..and that other thing called time.

So make sure you tell me any travel tips be sure to let me know in the mean time wishing you a great week.

a fifo wife {fifo life: ten things you didnt know:about me}

image with thanks to pintrest

And because I thought you couldn’t get enough of me here are ten random things you didn’t know about me. I didn’t think that after 583 posts there was anything to tell but there is. Truth be told it’s an attempt for you to tell me about you. I am nosey that way and I hate one sided conversations besides I took a couple of days off for self reflection because well I needed to and so remembered a few things about myself that I thought I would share because you know I can and it’s my blog so I will.

1. I’m an etiquette freak. Manners and good habits are my thing. I have almost every etiquette book written. If there is only one thing in this world I can teach my children its manners and good habits. Please and thank you will get you most places being rude will not..being an arse is only acceptable in politics and union debates. I do not deal with rudeness on any level. Don’t return my text, phone call ,email or ignore me on the street (but say hello on face book) without a good reason on more than one occasion I will drop you like a hot potato. I’m also the woman who will intervene when someone is screaming or being intolerably rude to the 15 year old attendant at Mc Donald’s because she made a mistake with an order…There is no excuse bad manners it will usually only get your burger spat on.

2. Hoons that use the street as a place to play annoy me; there are speed ways for that kind of thing. In fact I have been known to stand in the middle of my one way street. Holt them like I own it and tell them to f*#k off out my street. I never swear in public. I don’t see the need for that type of language when there are perfectly other good words to describe a situation however when I’m that angry that’s all that comes to mind. I hit a 3 year old boy when I was 19 years old. I was driving the speed limit but he being three didn’t know not to run out in from of a car…I was lucky I stopped in time his bike went under the car he did not..It took me until I had my own children why I needed police protection for a couple of days…the parents knew where I lived and didnt see it from my point of view that he should have bee home tucked up watching place school.

3. I’m only 157 cm tall and with a size 6 foot. I love it…its taken awhile though…my husband is 6ft5 with a size 18 shoe. I’m not sure we could get any further apart however it makes Gwyneth Paltrows marriage advice less back breaking…

4. Travel and not doing more of it is the only regret I have in life. I don’t believe in regret it’s a wasted emotion just as jealousy is.

5. I can’t use a glue gun or sewing machine. I am however handy with a grinder, sander, paint brush, drop saw and drill.

6. I want my helicopters licence. I love aviation. I wanted to be a pilot but my best friend told me I wasn’t smart enough so I believed her…she went on to be a disease researcher who then got hit by a car because she was coming home from a party after trying some party drugs…guess who wasn’t the smart one after all…

7. I can throw a throw net. I can gut a fish and tie a mud crab. I could survive in the bush if need be. You never ever know when those skills will come in handy standing in the middle of Woolworths.

8. I can’t stand seeing hair on the floor. If I get touched by a stranger’s hair I literally want to vomit. I’m gagging as I type. Moving on quickly.

9. I cannot dance at all which is a pity because my husband can move like Fred Freaking Astaire.

10. I’m a not religious but we all have to have faith in something. Mine is karma. I believe in karma what you put out will come back to you; eventually at some point. It’s the law of attraction thing…

So my friends tell me a little something about you..Come on it would be rude not to…
