a fifo wife {fifo life: a few things}

I worked in the garden all day yesterday it has suffered from the neglect over winter and our two weeks away which is a bit like me so I worked all day yet only made a dent but there is always next weekend just like my dieting theory..

So it just me and the lone solider at home today. I have spring cleaning plans for the kitchen but he the lone solider may have other plans for me and it involves ABC2 or lego.. sigh..

So here are the few things running through my head this second week of September.

  1. I uttered the words Christmas day last night with my sister in-law…say no more.
  2. Will you have time my husband said? Of course I will I just have to get up earlier…at what point will you sleep he said. Neh its over rated..
  3. I don’t pine for my husband but I miss him momentarily like when I go to town and don’t take my glasses because he will always get them for me.
  4. Went to the boys fancy dress ball and it was disappointing that a number of fathers were not there despite working locally I guess I underestimated the importance of football, mates and beer.
  5. Michael Buble said he didn’t love his first child straight away…I wish more people would be so honest…I felt love at first sight for my first but not my second and third…I was okay with it because I knew it would come at some point and as I watched my B2 cross the road today with B3 waving madly goodbye to him as he ran into the school grounds I literally cried with the amount of love I have for those boys..Blessed is what I am…
  6. I crave potato chips a lot…and sigh give into that craving a lot but after reading this and knowing I dont like milk it makes sense whether its right I dont know..
  7. For all the foodie instgrammers here are 75 you may or may not know about…but I do now.
  8. For those who didn’t see it on our face book feed this morning..here is a giggle for you..
  9. And still the Americans are confused about gun laws I bet this child’s parents even more so.
  10. Jennifer Anniston’s beauty regime..Or so they say…

Have a great day sweets and even better week..

I’m not very good with dates..they mean little unless they mean alot…like the 15th of September. The 15th of September 2011 was the day I started this blog. The 15th of Sepetember was the day my whole world changed and for that I am so grateful..I found my other place in the world..there are lots of places for us..the wife place, mum place, friends place but this was my place and I am so grateful. So everyone who has become part of the fifo wife family thank you for your input and positive spirit it has been life changing to someone especially me.

I am obsessed with doing dark colours for my boy’s room next time we paint. Now the room wouldn’t be completely dark just one wall with a complimentary colour…try explaining that to my husband and I’m met with the same dumb look he gives me when I start talking fashion with him…I’m talking charcoals, grey, dark greens, navy blues and black.

I think it would just add a little more calmness to the room they toys and galleries of books and art we have now would be the ‘pops’ of colour that we need.

I do wish I had been more adventures when I was pregnant but I wasn’t I was tired and so we painted out boys room blue. Typical and even more so blue with white trim but I have developed my own ‘style’ now I’m all grown up and I think I could pull off a dark or even black colour room…with the boys permission of course they have to sleep in it but given black is cool right now I think I will be right.

What do you think? Black for a kid’s room?

a fifo wife {a fifo life: kids reads: The Big Beet~ Lynn Ward}

the-big-beet

I discovered The Big Beet by Lynn Ward last week when I took the boys to the Port Melbourne Libaray..and oh my the selection of childrens books on offer we could have been there all day but given that we had a check list to complete we were not but I picked up this book and we must have read it four times.

Thelma Magee fancies a burger for tea, so her husband Bert heads out to the veggie patch to pick a juicy beetroot. But no matter how hard he pulls, that beet won’t budge. He might need a hand… A fresh Aussie take on a traditional folk tale.

It reads well, rythmes well and its illustrations are good and intresting and it teaches the kids value of team work. You could segement it off on to so many other things like concept words, rythming, where food comes from right through to diversifcation from dazza’s tattoo’s to the pink tutu.

You can buy it here  and here or head to your local library and ask them to get it in for you Im sure they wont mind as its a great Aussie read..

a fifo wife {fifo life: a few things}

Home sweet home. There is certainly no place like home. The beds no matter where you are; are never as comfy ever. The trip if I hadn’t said enough was so good. It was what I needed what the kids needed and what the family needed. If you can do it and do it soon yet here we are back to routine and loving it however ask me in three days time and I will re-evaluate that.

So these are the few things running through my head.

  1. Fell further in love with Melbourne, its cafes, restaurants and shops thank you to everyone for their tips and telling me Melbournes secrets.
  2. I love Melbourne but I’m a country girl at heart and the noise and pace is exhausting it wore me out.
  3. My mother came with us on our adventure and it was great. My mother had never been to the city and taking her on our adventure was as much fun as taking my boys. Her eyes were as wide as her smile. It was wonderful.
  4. My husband brought me a new camera…it’s so flash I will need to read the instructions… be prepared for more happy snaps.
  5. I’m feeling so damn happy right now I wish I could bottle it and give it away…or perhaps they have already done that and it’s called Prozac..
  6. Have a look at these really cool products that are currently being ‘invented’ it’s another matter of why the heck didn’t I think of that.
  7. For those that have slipped in public, hugged the wrong person or chastised a strangers child because you thought it was your own…yes me at the Victoria markets…damn oversized Ben 10 jackets…anyway this is for you…here
  8. Need to get organised?  Read this for oh my goodness how simple is that…
  9. I tried on some shorts while in Melbourne and walked out vowing never to get out of my jeans again…if this is you then read this it may help somewhat..Cutting out the good stuff will help also…sigh…but you know its all about moderation..
  10. How to do the bump pony tail…and I always thought the bump was from not using a hair brush seems I have created another fashion faux pa…

Well that’s it my sweets…it’s washing…organising…bill paying and getting back into reality well and truly…for me..

Hope you have a great week.
