a fifo wife {me: I may look a mess but I always smell good}

These are my favourite perfumes. I wear them on a daily basis with the exception of Dune its my night time scent. I rotate them everyday. They are oldies but goodies. I may look a mess I certainly have the natural knack of looking dishevelled but I always smell good. That part I know.

Smell is my biggest memory trigger as it would be for most and I know when husband is away if we are somewhere and someone is wearing Diesel his favourite scent the boys go crazy…that’s daddy’s smell.. that’s daddy’s smell. So I want to make sure I leave a lasting impression…lol.

What are your favourite scent?

I hope that your having a great day lovelies,

xx Deb

a fifo wife {recipe: Apricot Chicken}

Deb’s Apricot Chicken

We were late home from basket ball last night and with FIFO Nana here I’ve got so lax with dinner so I whipped this up in less than 40 minutes, including the sides. Its a good ole reliable family favourite dinner a bit high in salt so watch the seasoning but everything in moderation huh?

What you will need:

470g can apricot nectar

1 can of apricot halves (drained)

1 onion finely sliced

1 packet french onion soup

1 chicken cube

pinch pepper

1.5kg chicken pieces

1 clove of garlic

How to

Heat some oil in a pan cook chicken pieces in batches cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden. Remove chicken add onion and garlic and cook until translucent. Return chicken back to pan and add nectar, apricots, french onion soup base, chicken stock simmer for a further 20 minutes until cooked. Season according to taste. Serve with rice and vegetables.

Enjoy.

Have a really good day lovlies,

xxDeb

a fifo wife {interiors: Flea Market Chic}

In case you haven’t guessed I’m a sucker for vintage, reclaimed, recycled, flea market finds. I love the idea of everyday objects being displayed and pieces having a story and history behind them. It gives a room some soul and your house a sense of you.

Its also the only way to furniture your home when you have little ones.

These inspirational pictures from the beautiful book Flea Market Chic which is available here as given many an idea.

Im off to the op shop!

Hope that your having a fantstic Tuesday lovlies,

xx Deb

a fifo wife {sunday a fifo life: and this is way we do it}

You know what I like most about this FIFO life? And I’m hoping that this doesn’t seem like I’m boasting because it’s not its hard work really hard work and you FIFO girls would know that best. Its days like today. It’s getting to that stage in your financial life when you can treat your boys to something and not worry about the pennies in the bank. Well not too much anyway.

We did that today. Not worried about the ludicrous price they were asking for, broke the cabin fever (feels like we have been cooped up for days) and we went and played tourist in our own backyard. It was serious fun. Its what we work for. Its why we do it.

We played with our kids. We connected with them. We taught them ‘stuff’. It was good fun. And Im thankful for all of it. It was just a never ending day of easiness and fun. That ended even more perfectly.

We came home and played boats in this torrential rain that we are having at the moment and then had the most delicious pasta made by me.

It was a really nice way to spend a Sunday. I’m sure that it couldn’t have got any better.

I hope you my lovelies had an equally nice day. I really would love to hear.

Xx Deb
