a fifo wife {interiors: black and white part 1}

This is an apartment for sale in Sweden. The ‘Europeans’ just do it so well don’t they? Ido There’s a bit of a black and white theme running here and I love it. I’m not one for ‘imatation’ but I like how they have used all of these modern furnishings together. I saw a lot of these at the fair this year. Will post the last of the images soon.

Today is date day. First time this month. Thank god.

Enjoy Tuesday my lovelies,

a fifo wife {recipe: apples and grapes}

Hows this for a sweet idea for morning and afternoon tea treat’s?

What you need

Apple sliced into quarters

Grapes halved

toothpicks.

What to do:

Skewer at both end of the apples and attach grapes. Easy!

Be aware that toothpicks are a sharp so perhaps blunt-en the end of the pointy bit by either a slight tap or cut the end off.

Have a great Monday lovelies..mines going to be a wet one..its pouring cats and dogs.

a fifo wife {fifo life: I have emailed the easter bunny}

Well it’s happening that way again. Easter bunny has to come to our house early because well FIFO husband is due back at work a few days before so next Sunday is Easter for us. FIFO husband hasn’t had an Easter at home in around four years but we love this early celebrations just as much. The only thing I don’t like about him being away on Easter is filling in those damn public holidays. I love public holidays as much as I love the weekends. Yet we are looking forward to our early Easter as are the boys. It’s the Easter egg hunt that damn rabbit is just so clumsy he drops all his eggs trying to find the nest we have left him.

I think the secret to having these celebrations early is to get the kids involved in the planning.

So we first had to advise (in this case the Easter bunny) that he is to arrive on the correct date (next Sunday) because well nothing is without Daddy. Hence yesterday the FIFO boys and I emailed Easter bunny. The boys write the letter advising the names address and details of why he must come to our house early. Usually we post a letter but this year there hasn’t been enough time the boys felt..its such short notice they told me…what?!..so we used the powers of modern technology and emailed. I’m sure that the Easter bunny will be receiving that email via Santa very shortly.

We will start building the ‘nest’ this week and work out where to place it. Every year is different. I guess that’s why the Easter bunny makes such a mess. He runs all over the yard trying to find it.

It’s so much fun I don’t know who gets the biggest kick us or the kids.

What about you? Do you have a easter egg hunt?

Have a great Sunday my lovelies,

xxDeb

a fifo wife {me: do me a favour}

Can I ask a favour? I’m in a sentimental mood after watching a rather distressing story last night that resonated with me.

Go tell your husband, son, daughter, mother, sister, brother, dog, cat anybody even the person right next to you right now that you love them. Give them a cuddle squeeze of their hand. Let them know that you are there. Don’t assume they know you love them, tell them. It feels good to get a hug and to be told that you are loved. It feels good to tell. Really good.

I use to think you could wear that word out that it would lose its significance. Its doesn’t. You can’t hear it enough when you are a parent and a child. Not enough.

Right now I run if I think that someone is coming in for some affection. Tell me you love me and its makes me squirm. I’m asked lots of advice and I’m honoured to give it but I duck for cover if that request is attached to some sort of emotion. It makes me uncomfortable that much display of honesty and authenticity.

It shouldn’t. I dont want it to be.

So have a loved up Friday my lovelies,

xx Deb
