We came home from town and my legs where aching. It wasn’t a strenuous trip to town, but it was harnessed on to the back of what was a busy month. Husband was on swing and it was full swing end of the term. We packed away the shopping, and I said to the boys my body is aching, and I’m getting a migraine I just need to sit if that’s okay.
Why I asked their permission I don’t know; more to let them know my intention I think and given I never just sit they left me alone.
Most times I feel guilty this time I did not. Not even after a family member made a sweetly toned remark that I had a big day on the couch.
If I learnt anything last year it was to listen to my body. Coupled along with my new found knowledge that one of the first signs of exhaustion is a heaviness in the body and having been a drooling mess before I did as my body said too and so I sat.
And while I didn’t mean too I sat for 8 hours straight, and after that, I felt like I had slept for hours or had been given a fresh vitamin b shot despite the fact I was still sleep deprived from the previous {read that as many} sleepless nights. I felt good.
So while I sat on the couch, I watched tv. Tv I say sadly has become my time out these days, and that afternoon I watched some good ones and so thought I would share in case you find yourself heavy-legged in need of some couch therapy.
Mind Hunter. It’s out on Netflix. I am a bit of a serial killer fan especially the hows and whys. This is cast in the late 1970s. Two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters. Starring: Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv.
The Handmaidens Tale. Is out on SBS Demand free to air which is fantastic. Originally a book written by Margaret Attwood back in the mid 80’s {which I’m yet to read} and the adapted TV series is fantastic. The plot follows a dystopian future following a Second American Civil War where women, called “Handmaids,” are forced into sexual and child-bearing servitude. Stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes and Yvonne Strahovski.
Good Behaviour. Is out on Stan, and its just wrapped up season two. The main character is Letty Raines. A thief and con artist whose life is always one wrong turn, one bad decision, from implosion. Which is just how she likes it. Fresh out of prison, she’s attempting to stay afloat. But when she overhears a hitman being hired to kill a man’s wife, she sets out to derail the job, sending her on a wild collision course with the charming killer, and entangling them in a dangerous, seductive relationship. Stars Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto.
Outlander. It is available on Netflix and SBS Demand. I’m a massive Outlander lover both of the TV series and the books. I also may or may not have watched and rewatched each series as well as the books {and be a stalker of young Sam the fellow that plays Jamie Fraser}. Anyway..the story follows Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world in which her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Godless. Out on Netflix. This is another with Michelle Dockery she is becoming a fav of mine but its a good one about strong women taking control and getting things done- I like that as you can imagine. The story is around Frank Griffin, an outlaw terrorizing the 1880s American West. He is hunting down Roy Goode; his partner turned enemy. Roy hides out at a ranch as Frank’s chase leads him to La Belle, New Mexico – a town mysteriously made up almost entirely of women. Stars Michelle Dockery and Jack O” Connell.
Happy binging. Love to hear what you have watched lately.
