There is just 60 sleeps until Christmas my lovelies so if you haven’t got your list’s under way good golly. Which leads me to the next question if your partner is a way for the festive season have you worked out your plan of attack? Will you celebrate twice; my least favourite idea having done it once it left us broke, tired and the kids totally confused or will you create a new Christmas tradition as we have and just celebrate the once and have your own Christmas Day just for your FIFO family?
We started a tradition for our family where instead we choose a day and celebrate it as Christmas Day as normal. Usually our day is the last week of November or first week of December because those months are ‘Christmasy’ January looses its appeal. We start the advent calendar early. The lights go up early. The tree goes up early. The letters to Santa goes early along with his personal invite to come see us early…before the rest of the world. Oh how cool is that my kids scream he comes to see us early. We play Christmas carols and the kids watch Christmas cartoons to capture the mood.
The day is ours. Spent how we want. And celebrated just like Christmas Day.
We are still up until midnight ‘Christmas Eve’ doing last minute gifts and stockings. The kids are still up at 430 am bless there insomniac little hearts on Christmas Day to see if Santa has left them what was on their list. Family come and go all day to eat play and laugh.
Its Christmas day but better so much better. There is no stress. There is no clock watchers. Everyone is there in the moment enjoying each other.
So with husband home this year and Christmas day on the 25 th along with every body else I’m not really sure how I feel about it. I loved our Christmas day.
So my lovelies what are you doing this Christmas?
xx Deb
