Its steak for dinner tonight. Yum! So what would be better than a good mushroom sauce to go along as a side. A good sauce can transform any meal. Any.
Simple mushroom sauce
What you will need:
- 30g butter
- 1 medium brown onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 200g mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 300ml pure cream
How to:
- Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add onion. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until softened. Add garlic and mushrooms. Cook, stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes or until softened.
- Add wine. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in cream. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 10 minutes or until reduced by half. Season with salt and pepper
Goes well with chicken also.
Doesnt a sauce make something rather plain just that little bit more yum!! I love a good sauce..Im guilty of licking the pan..lol.
Thanks for commenting…love hearing from you..really really do..xxDeb
Oh Deb…..if only you had posted this one night before you did. We had steaks and my hubby asked for mushroom sauce for a nice change. Hmmm think Kirstene think. How to make it. I winged it and it turned out really yummy. Pretty much used the same ingredients but didn’t think to add wine. Drink it yes. Add to mushroom sauce no.
Take care. Love all your posts. Its like I’m reading about myself!!! K xx
